My Idea
From my mind map I landed on the idea of making a Netflix style 'Mockumentary' about a secret underground mouse cult.

For this I've been looking into stuff I can relate to a narrative I create. For this I was looking at events around the world that link to mice and mice within the media in general, so I can forge this idea of mice being imbedded into society. One of the most notable appearances of this is during the Australian mouse plague of 2021

One thing I've been looking into is the morals and ethics of documentary filmmaking since we are dealing with real world issues. One of the difficulties with making a mockumentary is that you are creating a false narrative on purpose for comedic effect. A video by the YouTube channel 'StopMakingSense' does a really good job covering the morals and ethics of documentary filmmaking.
This video sums up how morals and ethics should be applied to documentary filmmaking and the importance of ethics when telling a story of real life events.

In the video it also talks about the filmmakers 'code of ethics' which the filmmaker/director responsible for when creating documentaries.

POV (2020). Honest Truths: Documentary Filmmaking Ethics | Honest Truths: Ethics in Documentary Film
Although we aren't making an actual documentary these rules still play a key part to help make our documentary feel authentic as this is how a documentary would actually be made. For example 'All parties involved in the film must be given the opportunity to represent their self' this would work as a code and convention of a documentary also their for I think at the end their should be some sort of text element explaining that we reached out to the other people mentioned in the documentary but the declined to comment.
Conclusions
In summary, morals and ethics play a massive role in how I plan the rest of my shots aswell, as I need to give all ‘parties’ a chance to express themselves despite them only being characters in a short film. To do this I will make sure I will give all characters mentioned in the film a chance to represent themselves, whether that be an interview or a sentence at the end of the film saying we attempted to reach out to them.
